Mrs. Smith has been apart of the Washington Family for years, serving in many ways before becoming our beloved Administrative Assistant. Her experience gives her a unique perspective and makes her perfect for the role she holds today. When we say that she is the glue that holds us all together, it isn't a cliché. We mean it. She is one of those rare souls that sees a need and steps in to fill it without being asked She instinctively knows how to help people. She is kind, patient, and serves us all with a smile. .It’s not unusual to see staff members stopping by her office for a little encouragement and maybe even a piece of chocolate. Her quiet strength and unwavering support have become something we all depend on. Mrs. Smith is at the heart of what makes Washington a special place. We are thankful she shares her caring heart with us every day. #WarsawInspires

Einstein said, "The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library." In our library, you'll find Mrs. Nunez providing a caring environment for everyone. She is fabulous at engaging students, incentivizing them to read, and instilling the love of reading in them. We are super grateful to claim Mrs. Nunez as a Washington Hornet. #WarsawInspires

Students in Mrs. Hutton's 2nd grade experienced screenless coding with Sphero Indis. This robotic car uses a color sensor and colored tiles to run a program. Students then wrote a 6 sentence pseudocode explaining how the code works. #WarsawInspires

If you want to know how we do what we do, look no further than these wonderfully helpful people. Our paraprofessionals are the backbone of the services we are able to provide to students. Meeting with small groups for focused instruction, offering one-on-one assistance, or being a second set of hands, ears, and eyes in the classroom, we are largely successful because of their help. Your ability to provide practical support in your quiet, selfless ways speaks volumes.Thank you to all of our paras. #WarsawInspires

What a week! Wednesday we helped to "Light it Up Blue" for World Autism Awareness Day and today we dressed like our favorites, our students! #WarsawInspires

Washington 6th graders created Cardboard Chairs for their STEM Engineering Project. They had to collaborate with their team to make the chair with specific dimensions to hold at least 70 lbs. Engineers from Medtronic, ZimmerBiomet, and Orthopediatrics listened to student presentations and offered feedback as well as leading a question/answer career talk. #WarsawInspires #ZimmerBiomet #Orthopediatrics #Medtronic

In Mrs. Anderson’s class at Washington Elementary, students are bucket fillers! Every time they show kindness, include a friend or use encouraging words, they get to add a pom-pom to their bucket. Once it’s full—they earn a prize! It’s a fun way to remind students that small acts of kindness make a big impact, and when we lift others up, we all shine brighter!
She also loves celebrating those “I did it!” moments—like when a student writes their name or blends sounds for the first time. Every victory, big or small, is worth cheering for!
Want to see more of what makes our classrooms so special? Join us on April 2 to explore them all!
