Warsaw Community Schools is proud to announce the outstanding achievements of our young chess teams at the Indiana State Chess Team Regional and Indiana State Chess Team Championship.
On February 24th, the Madison “third grade and under” chess team secured a 3rd place finish at the Regional competition (Goshen, IN). This impressive performance not only earned the team a trophy for their school but also individual trophies for each member. Their success has led them to qualify for the Indiana State Chess Team State Championship, which took place on March 23rd in Hammond.
In addition to Madison, the "third grade and under" teams from Jefferson, Lincoln and Washington; along with the "sixth grade and under" teams from Jefferson, Lincoln, Madison and Washington; and Edgewood's team, also secured their spots in the State Championship.
In total, the Indiana State Chess Team Championship saw nine teams from Warsaw participating, with three of these teams placing in the top ten in the state. Competing in the “third grade and under” section, Lincoln secured the 9th place, Madison 5th place and Washington an impressive 3rd place.
Warsaw Community Schools congratulates all the students who qualified for and participated in the state competition. The success of our teams is a testament to the teams’ hard work and highlights the strength of our chess program. Way to go!
